Description
A rich and decadent sauce perfect for pasta or as a base for your favorite dishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced)
- 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: ¼ teaspoon nutmeg for extra warmth
- Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. (Don’t let it brown.)
- Add the cream and garlic, stirring constantly. Heat until it’s just about to simmer.
- Slowly add the Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg if using. Taste and adjust.
- Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly. (Keep stirring.)
- Remove from heat and pour over cooked pasta or use immediately in your favorite dishes.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter sauce.
- Grated Pecorino Romano cheese works if you want a sharper flavor.
