Description

A rich and decadent sauce perfect for pasta or as a base for your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced)
  • 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: ¼ teaspoon nutmeg for extra warmth
  • Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. (Don’t let it brown.)
  2. Add the cream and garlic, stirring constantly. Heat until it’s just about to simmer.
  3. Slowly add the Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg if using. Taste and adjust.
  5. Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly. (Keep stirring.)
  6. Remove from heat and pour over cooked pasta or use immediately in your favorite dishes.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter sauce.
  • Grated Pecorino Romano cheese works if you want a sharper flavor.
