Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ cup (60ml) tomato sauce (or salsa)
  • 12 tbsp water (if needed)
  • 2 cups cooked warm rice (white, jasmine, brown, or cilantro-lime)
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Fresh guacamole
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Pico de gallo (tomato, onion, cilantro, lime, salt)
  • Sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • Optional: corn, black beans, jalapeños, lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook, breaking apart as it browns.
  3. Add salt, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, onion powder.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, and a splash of water if needed.
  5. Simmer 3–5 minutes until saucy and flavorful.
  6. In each bowl, layer warm rice, shredded lettuce, seasoned beef, guacamole, cheese, pico de gallo, and sour cream.
  7. Squeeze fresh lime on top for brightness.
