Description

Creamy Garlic Shrimp Bread Boats are a delicious and indulgent dish featuring shrimp cooked in a creamy garlic sauce, served in hollowed-out bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 2 tbsp butter (for cream sauce)
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan
  • ½ cup (50 g) shredded mozzarella
  • Salt and pepper, to taste (for cream sauce)
  • 1 large French baguette or 2 small ones
  • ½ cup (50 g) shredded mozzarella (extra for topping)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Slice the baguette into 4–5 thick sections and hollow out the centers, leaving the bottom and sides intact.
  3. Arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment.
  4. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  5. Add garlic and chili flakes, sauté for 30 seconds.
  6. Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2–3 minutes until pink.
  7. Remove from heat, stir in chopped parsley, and set aside.
  8. In the same pan, melt butter and whisk in flour.
  9. Gradually add milk and cream, whisking until smooth and thick.
  10. Stir in Parmesan, mozzarella, salt, and pepper.
  11. Mix the cooked shrimp into the sauce.
  12. Spoon the creamy shrimp mixture into each bread boat.
  13. Sprinkle extra mozzarella on top.
  14. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the tops are golden and bubbly.
  15. Garnish with parsley and serve warm — perfect for sharing!

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the amount of chili flakes based on your spice preference.
  • For a lighter version, you can substitute half of the heavy cream with additional milk.
  • These bread boats are best served fresh out of the oven.
