Description
A delicious summer dessert featuring fresh peaches topped with a brown butter crisp.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 fresh peaches (about 6 cups), sliced (peeled optional)
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
- In a large bowl, toss sliced peaches with sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Spread mixture evenly into a large oven-safe skillet or baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and smells nutty (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning.
- In a bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and nuts (if using). Pour in brown butter and stir until crumbly.
- Sprinkle crisp topping evenly over peaches in skillet. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until topping is golden and peaches are bubbling.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Top with big scoops of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Ensure not to overcook the butter to avoid a burnt taste.
- Feel free to substitute peaches with other fruits like apples or berries.
- Serve warm for the best experience.
