Description

A delicious summer dessert featuring fresh peaches topped with a brown butter crisp.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 fresh peaches (about 6 cups), sliced (peeled optional)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, toss sliced peaches with sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Spread mixture evenly into a large oven-safe skillet or baking dish.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and smells nutty (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning.
  4. In a bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and nuts (if using). Pour in brown butter and stir until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle crisp topping evenly over peaches in skillet. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until topping is golden and peaches are bubbling.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. Top with big scoops of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Ensure not to overcook the butter to avoid a burnt taste.
  • Feel free to substitute peaches with other fruits like apples or berries.
  • Serve warm for the best experience.
