Description

A delicious and cheesy dish featuring crispy fries topped with seasoned ground beef and a variety of cheeses, creating a mouthwatering ‘lava’ effect.


Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen steak fries (or homemade thick-cut fries)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp taco seasoning (or chili powder + cumin mix)
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup nacho cheese sauce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (or salsa fresca)
  • ¼ cup sliced green onions
  • ½ cup sour cream (to mimic “lava drips”)
  • Optional: Jalapeños, guacamole, or hot sauce drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Toss fries with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread on a baking sheet and bake until golden and crispy, about 25 minutes.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add ground beef and seasonings. Cook until browned and slightly crispy.
  6. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  7. Transfer cooked fries into an oven-safe skillet.
  8. Layer with ground beef.
  9. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella over the top.
  10. Drizzle with nacho cheese sauce for lava effect.
  11. Place skillet under broiler for 3–4 minutes until cheese is bubbling and melted.
  12. Top with diced tomatoes, green onions, and sour cream dollops.
  13. Add jalapeños, guac, or hot sauce if desired.

  • For a spicier version, add more chili powder or jalapeños.
