Description

A delicious and hearty Towering Nacho Lasagna, perfect for gatherings and family dinners, featuring layers of seasoned meat, cheese, and tortillas.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or mix: 1 tsp chili powder, ½ tsp cumin, ½ tsp paprika, ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp onion powder, salt & pepper)
  • ½ cup salsa or diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack or mozzarella
  • 1 cup nacho cheese sauce
  • ½ cup sour cream (plus more for topping)
  • 810 flour tortillas (medium size)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for toasting tortillas, optional)
  • Sliced jalapeños
  • Chopped fresh cilantro
  • Diced red onion
  • Extra salsa or pico de gallo

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning and salsa/diced tomatoes. Simmer until thickened. Set aside.
  4. Lightly toast tortillas in a skillet with a touch of butter for sturdiness. Set aside on a plate.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. In a greased baking dish, layer one tortilla at the bottom.
  7. Spread a layer of meat, followed by shredded cheese and nacho cheese sauce.
  8. Add another tortilla, then repeat with meat, cheese, and sour cream.
  9. Continue layering until you reach the top (4–6 layers depending on dish size).
  10. Finish with a tortilla, loaded with extra cheese on top.
  11. Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  12. Let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing into tall stacked portions.
  13. Top with sliced jalapeños, cilantro, red onion, and salsa.
  14. Serve hot with sour cream or guacamole on the side.
