Description

Strawberry Chocolate Crispy Towel Rolls are a delightful dessert featuring a light strawberry sponge cake filled with whipped cream and coated in white chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs (room temp)
  • ¾ cup (150 g) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry powder (or freeze-dried strawberries, ground)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream (chilled)
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (250 g) white chocolate or candy melts
  • Few drops pink food coloring (if not using strawberry melts)
  • 2 tablespoons desiccated coconut or crispy sugar sprinkles (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray (10×15-inch) with parchment paper.
  2. Beat eggs and sugar with a mixer until pale and fluffy.
  3. Gently fold in flour, strawberry powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add milk, vanilla, and melted butter, folding until smooth.
  5. Spread evenly in the pan, bake 12–15 minutes until springy.
  6. While still warm, roll the cake (with parchment) from the short end into a towel shape.
  7. Let cool completely, then unroll carefully.
  8. Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  9. Spread evenly over the cooled cake.
  10. Roll the cake tightly into a log.
  11. Cut into smaller towel-like rolls (about 2–3 inches each).
  12. Melt white chocolate or candy melts and tint pink if needed.
  13. Dip or coat each roll in chocolate.
  14. Sprinkle with coconut or crispy sugar before the coating sets.
  15. Refrigerate 30 minutes for coating to set.
  16. Serve chilled for best texture.

Notes

  • Ensure the eggs are at room temperature for better volume.
  • Use high-quality white chocolate for a smoother coating.
  • Experiment with different toppings for variety.
