Description
A refreshing strawberry basil lemonade that’s perfect for hot days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups water
- 1 and ½ cups granulated white sugar
- 9 ounces (250 g) strawberries, fresh or frozen, halved
- ¼ cup chopped fresh Italian basil leaves
- 1 and ½ cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
- chilled water or club soda (as required)
- ice cubes (as required)
Instructions
- In a saucepan combine water and sugar and cook over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved, stirring frequently.
- Add strawberries and basil leaves to the pan and stir gently.
- Reduce the heat to low.
- Let the syrup simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup cool down for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the syrup to the large jar of a blender along with lemon juice and blend until smooth.
- Add ½ cup of syrup to a tall serving glass.
- Add a halved strawberry, a few basil leaves, 1 lime round, and 4-5 ice cubes.
- Top with chilled club soda and stir gently.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- This lemonade can be adjusted to taste; add more or less sugar based on your preference.
- For a fizzy version, ensure club soda is chilled before serving.
