  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil, for frying
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for the glaze)
  • 34 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for the glaze)
  • 1 ½ cups fresh strawberries, halved or quartered (for topping)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Add flour and salt, knead until smooth and elastic (5–7 minutes).
  4. Cover and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Roll dough to ½-inch thickness. Cut out rounds with a donut cutter.
  6. Let rise 30 minutes until puffy.
  7. Fry in hot oil (170°C / 340°F) until golden brown, flipping once.
  8. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Mix powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla until smooth and pourable.
  10. Dip cooled donuts into the cream glaze.
  11. Top immediately with fresh strawberry pieces.
  12. Dust lightly with powdered sugar.
