- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil, for frying
- 2 cups powdered sugar (for the glaze)
- 3–4 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for the glaze)
- 1 ½ cups fresh strawberries, halved or quartered (for topping)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Add flour and salt, knead until smooth and elastic (5–7 minutes).
- Cover and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Roll dough to ½-inch thickness. Cut out rounds with a donut cutter.
- Let rise 30 minutes until puffy.
- Fry in hot oil (170°C / 340°F) until golden brown, flipping once.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Mix powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla until smooth and pourable.
- Dip cooled donuts into the cream glaze.
- Top immediately with fresh strawberry pieces.
- Dust lightly with powdered sugar.
