- 6 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups (about 250 g) diced cooked ham
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cups (240 g) shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g) cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp butter (for greasing the slow cooker)
Instructions
- Grease the inside of your slow cooker with butter or nonstick spray.
- Place half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Add half the ham, onions, and 1 cup of cheese.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, ham, onions, and cheese.
- In a bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour evenly over the layered ingredients.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted through.
- Stir gently before serving to mix the sauce evenly.
- Sprinkle extra cheese on top just before serving, if desired.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and cooked later.
