Description

Puff Pastry Christmas Trees with Pistachios & Cranberries are a festive and delightful treat perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed but still cold)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (for glaze)
  • ½ cup (60 g) chopped pistachios
  • ½ cup (75 g) fresh or frozen cranberries (or sweetened dried cranberries)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (optional, for extra caramelization)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth the creases.
  3. Using a sharp knife or cookie cutters, cut the pastry into different-sized stars or squares (small to large) to stack into Christmas tree shapes.
  4. If desired, cut small stars for the tree toppers.
  5. Place the largest piece at the bottom, brush lightly with egg wash, then stack smaller pieces on top, brushing a tiny bit of egg wash between each layer to help them stick.
  6. Continue stacking 4–5 layers, ending with a small piece or a star on top.
  7. Brush the assembled trees all over with egg wash.
  8. Sprinkle a little brown sugar on top for extra shine and crispness.
  9. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  10. While still warm, drizzle with honey or maple syrup for a glossy finish.
  11. While the glaze is still sticky, press in cranberries and sprinkle with chopped pistachios.
  12. Dust with powdered sugar for a snowy effect.

Notes

  • For a vegan option, use plant-based milk for the egg wash.
  • These can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings with other nuts or dried fruits.
