Description
A delicious appetizer featuring crispy fried Brie cheese coated in pistachios, drizzled with warm honey and topped with cranberry sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 small Brie wheels (or 1 large and cut into thick rounds)
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup crushed pistachios
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup flour (for dredging)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- 1/2 cup honey (warm)
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce or cranberry relish
- 1/4 cup pistachios, chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the Brie: If using a large wheel, slice into thick disks (about 1 to 1.5 inches thick). Place Brie in the freezer for 20 minutes — prevents melting too fast.
- Make the Coating: In one bowl: flour. In second bowl: beaten eggs. In third bowl: panko + crushed pistachios + garlic powder + salt + pepper.
- Bread the Brie: Coat Brie in flour (shake off extra), dip into egg, and press into pistachio-panko coating. Freeze again for 10 minutes (important!).
- Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in skillet. Fry Brie 1–2 minutes per side, until deep golden and crisp. OR: Air Fry at 390°F (200°C) for 6–8 minutes, lightly sprayed with oil.
- Finish & Serve: Place fried Brie on serving board. Top with warm honey, cranberry sauce, chopped pistachios, and fresh parsley. Serve immediately, while the inside is melty and gooey.
Notes
- Freezing the Brie helps maintain its shape while frying.
- Adjust the frying time based on the size of the Brie wheels.
- For a healthier option, consider air frying instead of deep frying.
