Description

Pistachio Baklava Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful fusion of traditional baklava flavors and soft, sweet cinnamon rolls, topped with a honey syrup and optional Mediterranean cheese.


Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups (440 g) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup (50 g) sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted (for filling)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup finely chopped pistachios
  • ½ cup finely chopped walnuts
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup sugar (for syrup)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp orange blossom water (optional)
  • Crumbled feta or ricotta (optional, for topping)
  • Extra chopped pistachios (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy (5–10 minutes).
  2. Add eggs, softened butter, salt, and flour. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1–2 hours, until doubled.
  4. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, pistachios, and walnuts in a small bowl.
  5. Roll dough into a large rectangle. Brush with melted butter.
  6. Sprinkle the filling evenly.
  7. Roll tightly into a log and cut into rolls. Place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. While rolls bake, combine honey, sugar, water, and lemon juice in a saucepan.
  12. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened. Add orange blossom water if using.
  13. Pour warm syrup over the hot rolls as soon as they come out of the oven.
  14. Sprinkle with crumbled feta (optional) and chopped pistachios.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use fresh ground spices.
  • Let the rolls cool slightly before serving to allow the syrup to soak in.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
