- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- Pink food coloring
- Pearl sprinkles or edible pearls (for decoration)
- Heart-shaped sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry mixture and milk, mixing until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
- Beat butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with heavy cream, until fluffy.
- Mix in vanilla and tint with pink food coloring.
- Slice cooled cake into two layers (or bake two thinner layers).
- Spread frosting between the layers and on top.
- Pipe decorative swirls of pink frosting on the surface.
- Sprinkle with pearl sprinkles and optional heart decorations.
- Cut into bars and serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a few drops of almond extract to the frosting.
- Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days.
