Description

A delicious twist on traditional meatloaf, this Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Meatloaf is filled with sautéed peppers and onions, and topped with a cheesy blend for a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs (900 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • ½ cup (60 g) breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) milk
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp steak seasoning or paprika
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded provolone or cheddar
  • ¾ cup (75 g) shredded cheddar + mozzarella mix
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Veggie Filling: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced peppers and onions. Season with steak seasoning. Sauté until soft and slightly caramelized (5–6 minutes). Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Make the Meatloaf Base: In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, onion, and seasonings. Combine gently — do not overmix.
  3. Assemble: On parchment paper, flatten the meat mixture into a large rectangle (about 1 inch thick). Sprinkle mozzarella and provolone evenly. Layer on the sautéed peppers and onions. Carefully roll the meatloaf from one short end to the other, sealing the edges. Transfer to a baking dish seam-side down.
  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F). In the last 10 minutes, top with the cheddar-mozzarella blend and bake until melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or a green salad.

Notes

  • Ensure not to overmix the meatloaf mixture to keep it tender.
  • Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite vegetables.
  • Letting the meatloaf rest before slicing helps maintain its shape.
