Description

Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is a rich and decadent dessert that features a thick, buttery base topped with a creamy, gooey layer, making it a delightful treat for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 cups (480 g) powdered sugar
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg until combined (it will be thick). Press mixture evenly into the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, mix until combined. Gradually beat in powdered sugar until creamy. Pour this mixture over the base layer.
  4. Bake for 40–45 minutes. The edges should be golden and set, but the center should still be soft and gooey. Do not overbake (the gooey center is the star!).
  5. Let cake cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Cut into squares and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
