- 1 box vanilla cake mix OR
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup butter (softened)
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ cup milk
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups vanilla buttercream or cream cheese frosting
- 12 large marshmallows
- Mini M&Ms, sprinkles, or mini chocolate balls (buttons)
- Orange candy-coated sunflower seed, orange sprinkle, or mini carrot candy (nose)
- Mini chocolate chips or black icing dots (eyes & smile)
- Melted chocolate or brown icing (arms)
- Optional: sanding sugar for “snow sparkle”
Instructions
- Make the Cupcakes: Prepare according to package instructions or for homemade, preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy, add eggs and vanilla, then mix in flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk until smooth. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full and bake for 18–20 minutes. Cool completely before decorating.
- Frost the “Melting Snow”: Pipe or dollop a generous swirl of white frosting on each cupcake and smooth the top to look like melting snow. Sprinkle lightly with sanding sugar (optional).
- Make the Snowman Heads: Place a marshmallow on top of each frosted cupcake. Use black icing or melted chocolate to add eyes and a mouth (dot smile). Press in an orange sprinkle or candy for the carrot nose.
- Add Snowman Details: Use round sprinkles, mini M&Ms, or sugar pearls for buttons. Draw stick arms using melted chocolate or brown icing, or use small pretzel sticks. Optionally, add colorful sprinkles for scarves or buttons and dust with powdered sugar for a snowy effect.
