Description

A delicious and indulgent Melted Cheddar Beef Grilled Cheese Stack that combines savory ground beef with melted cheese, all sandwiched between crispy bread.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef (80/20 recommended) – 1 lb (450g)
  • Small red onion, finely diced – ½
  • Garlic, minced – 2 cloves
  • Worcestershire sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Ketchup – 1–2 tbsp (optional but delicious)
  • Salt + black pepper – To taste
  • Cheddar cheese (shredded or slices) – 2 cups
  • Mozzarella (optional for extra melt) – 1 cup
  • Thick sliced bread (Texas toast, brioche, sourdough) – 8 slices
  • Butter – 3–4 tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, add ground beef and cook 5–7 minutes, breaking it up. Add onion and garlic and cook 2 minutes more. Season with salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and optional ketchup. Cook until mixture thickens slightly — not runny.
  2. Butter the outside of each bread slice generously. Layer like this: Bread (buttered side down), Cheddar, spoonful of beef mixture, Mozzarella (optional), Bread (buttered side up).
  3. Heat a skillet on medium-low. Cook each sandwich 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently. Cheese should fully melt and bread should be golden and crisp.
  4. Slice each sandwich in half if you want dramatic cheese pulls. Stack high like a glorious food tower. Add thyme or chives on top for a chef touch (optional).

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, consider adding jalapeños to the beef mixture.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese for unique flavors.
  • Ensure the skillet is not too hot to prevent burning the bread before the cheese melts.
