Description

Loaded Beef Nachos are a delicious and hearty dish perfect for parties or a cozy night in. This recipe features layers of crispy tortilla chips topped with a savory beef mixture, melted cheese, and fresh toppings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade mix: chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, cayenne)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 large bag tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar & Monterey Jack)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional, for stretchiness)
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 12 jalapeños, sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 avocado, diced or guacamole (optional)
  • Sour cream (for serving)
  • Salsa (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onions and sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute.
  4. Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns.
  5. Drain excess fat if needed.
  6. Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. On a baking sheet or foil tray, spread a layer of tortilla chips.
  9. Spoon some beef mixture evenly over the chips.
  10. Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  11. Repeat with another layer of chips, beef, and cheese.
  12. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  13. Immediately top with diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeños, and cilantro.
  14. Add avocado or guacamole if desired.
  15. Serve hot with salsa and sour cream on the side.
