Description
Delicious yeast-raised donuts swirled with kiwi and strawberry flavors, topped with a glossy glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- Oil, for frying
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk (or cream)
- 1 tbsp strawberry puree (for pink glaze)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 kiwis, peeled & thinly sliced
- 6–8 strawberries, halved or thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp apricot jam (warmed, for a shiny glaze)
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in sugar, melted butter, egg, flour, and salt. Knead until smooth and elastic (8–10 minutes).
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1 ½ hours, until doubled in size.
- Roll dough to about ½ inch thick. Cut out circles with a donut cutter (or round cutter + smaller cutter for the hole).
- Let rise again for 30 minutes on a floured tray.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
- Whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and strawberry puree until smooth and pourable.
- Dip each donut top into the pink strawberry glaze.
- Arrange kiwi and strawberry slices neatly around the top.
- Brush lightly with warm apricot jam for a glossy finish.
- Best enjoyed fresh the same day!
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
- Donuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days, but are best fresh.
