Description

Delicious yeast-raised donuts swirled with kiwi and strawberry flavors, topped with a glossy glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Oil, for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk (or cream)
  • 1 tbsp strawberry puree (for pink glaze)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 kiwis, peeled & thinly sliced
  • 68 strawberries, halved or thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp apricot jam (warmed, for a shiny glaze)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in sugar, melted butter, egg, flour, and salt. Knead until smooth and elastic (8–10 minutes).
  3. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1 ½ hours, until doubled in size.
  4. Roll dough to about ½ inch thick. Cut out circles with a donut cutter (or round cutter + smaller cutter for the hole).
  5. Let rise again for 30 minutes on a floured tray.
  6. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and strawberry puree until smooth and pourable.
  8. Dip each donut top into the pink strawberry glaze.
  9. Arrange kiwi and strawberry slices neatly around the top.
  10. Brush lightly with warm apricot jam for a glossy finish.
  11. Best enjoyed fresh the same day!

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • Donuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days, but are best fresh.
