Description

Delicious fried beef round steak served with a flavorful gravy.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless beef round steak
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (for gravy)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Tenderize the beef round steak by pounding it to about half an inch thick.
  2. In a bowl, mix buttermilk and eggs. Coat each piece of steak in the mixture.
  3. On a plate, season flour with salt and pepper, then dredge each coated steak thoroughly.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry steaks for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. For the gravy, remove cooked steaks but keep about 1/4 cup drippings in the pan. Melt butter, add more flour, and stir until golden.
  6. Gradually whisk in milk while scraping the pan. Cook until thickened and season with salt and pepper.
