Delightful and festive Grinch Green Sugar Cookies perfect for holiday celebrations.
Ingredients

- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ¾ cups (330g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup (115g) butter, softened (for frosting)
- 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk or heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- Green gel food coloring
- Red candy hearts (or red fondant hearts)
- Optional: a tiny bit of green sanding sugar for sparkle
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Beat butter and sugar together for about 3 minutes until creamy and fluffy.
- Mix in egg and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix just until combined (do NOT overmix).
- Roll dough into small balls or roll and cut shapes.
- Place on lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes; do not brown them. Cookies should look pale and soft when done.
- Let cool completely before frosting.
- For the frosting, beat butter until fluffy.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Add milk slowly until smooth and spreadable.
- Add green gel coloring until you achieve Grinch green.
- Spread or pipe green frosting on cookies.
- Press one red candy heart onto each cookie (top corner works best!).
- Let set for 10–15 minutes so frosting firms.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for a brighter color.
- Ensure cookies are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
- Optional: Add green sanding sugar for extra sparkle.
