Description

Delightful and festive Grinch Green Sugar Cookies perfect for holiday celebrations.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups (330g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115g) butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk or heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Red candy hearts (or red fondant hearts)
  • Optional: a tiny bit of green sanding sugar for sparkle

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Beat butter and sugar together for about 3 minutes until creamy and fluffy.
  3. Mix in egg and vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix just until combined (do NOT overmix).
  6. Roll dough into small balls or roll and cut shapes.
  7. Place on lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes; do not brown them. Cookies should look pale and soft when done.
  9. Let cool completely before frosting.
  10. For the frosting, beat butter until fluffy.
  11. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  12. Add milk slowly until smooth and spreadable.
  13. Add green gel coloring until you achieve Grinch green.
  14. Spread or pipe green frosting on cookies.
  15. Press one red candy heart onto each cookie (top corner works best!).
  16. Let set for 10–15 minutes so frosting firms.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for a brighter color.
  • Ensure cookies are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
  • Optional: Add green sanding sugar for extra sparkle.
