Description

A delicious Garlic Butter Shrimp served with a creamy Cajun sauce over fluffy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for sauce)
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning (for sauce)
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste (for sauce)
  • 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes, peeled & cubed
  • 4 tbsp butter (for mashed potatoes)
  • ½ cup warm milk (or heavy cream for richer texture)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste (for mashed potatoes)

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (15–20 minutes). Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until creamy. Set aside.
  2. Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic until fragrant. Add shrimp, cooking 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and keep warm.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter, then whisk in flour to make a roux. Slowly pour in chicken broth, whisking until smooth. Stir in cream, Cajun seasoning, paprika, and chili flakes. Simmer until slightly thickened (3–4 minutes). Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  4. Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates. Top with Cajun sauce, then arrange shrimp on top. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase the amount of chili flakes.
  • Ensure shrimp are cooked just until pink to avoid overcooking.
  • Mashed potatoes can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
