Description

A delicious and indulgent Dunkin’ Donuts-inspired Boston Cream Croissant Loaf, perfect for dessert lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans refrigerated croissant (crescent) dough or puff pastry sheets
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and line a loaf pan.
  2. Roll out crescent/puff pastry dough, layering sheets inside the pan (brushing lightly with melted butter between layers).
  3. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden and puffed. Let cool completely.
  4. In a saucepan, heat milk until steaming.
  5. In a bowl, whisk sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until pale.
  6. Slowly whisk in hot milk, then return mixture to the saucepan.
  7. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until thickened.
  8. Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla. Chill until firm.
  9. Slice the croissant loaf horizontally in half.
  10. Spread thick layers of Boston cream filling inside. Replace the top layer.
  11. Heat heavy cream until hot but not boiling. Pour over chocolate chips and butter.
  12. Stir until smooth and glossy.
  13. Drizzle glaze generously over the loaf. Dust lightly with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure the filling is chilled before assembling for best results.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for the glaze for a richer flavor.
