Description
A delicious homemade orange marmalade that combines the sweet and tangy flavors of oranges and lemon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large fresh oranges (approximately 2 cups juice)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Wash the oranges, zest one without the pith, then juice all and strain out seeds.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine orange juice, zest, sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil while stirring occasionally; reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes until slightly thickened.
- To test consistency, drop a spoonful onto a cold plate; if it holds its shape when tilted, it’s ready.
- Remove from heat and let cool before pouring into sterilized jars and sealing tightly.
- Allow jars to cool completely before refrigerating or gifting.
Notes
- Make sure to use fresh oranges for the best flavor.
- Adjust sugar to taste if you prefer it sweeter or less sweet.
