- 1 cup soft butter (very soft for better mixing)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (can substitute with granulated sugar)
- 1 large egg (can substitute with a flax egg)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (use pure for best flavor)
- 1 pinch salt (adjust based on taste preferences)
- 2¼ to 2½ cups all-purpose flour (can substitute with gluten-free blend)
- colored to taste sprinkles (choose your favorite colors)
- maraschino to taste cherries (adds flavor and color)
- chocolate to taste for drizzle (melt your favorite chocolate)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of very soft butter with 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Beat until creamy and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Incorporate 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the creamed mixture. Mix on medium speed until smooth.
- Gradually mix in 2¼ to 2½ cups of all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt. Stir until just combined.
- Fill your cookie press with the dough, packing it tightly.
- Press the cookie dough onto a baking sheet directly, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- If desired, sprinkle colorful sprinkles or place a maraschino cherry on top of each cookie.
- Chill the pressed cookies in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes while preheating your oven to 350°F.
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until golden around the edges.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
