Description

A delicious and hearty Deep-Dish Hamburger Sausage & Pepperoni Pie, perfect for family gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • ½ lb (225 g) Italian sausage
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese (optional, for creaminess)
  • 1 ½ cups pizza sauce (or marinara)
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: Combine yeast, warm water, sugar, and let bloom 5 minutes. Mix in flour, salt, and olive oil. Knead until smooth (5–7 minutes). Cover and let rise 1 hour, until doubled.
  2. Cook the Meat: In a skillet, cook ground beef and sausage until browned. Drain excess fat. Add onion, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until onion softens. Set aside.
  3. Assemble the Pie: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a deep-dish pan or springform pan. Roll out dough and press into bottom and sides of pan. Layer as follows: Mozzarella cheese, Meat mixture, Ricotta cheese (if using), Pizza sauce, Pepperoni slices. Repeat layers if pan depth allows. Finish with mozzarella, Parmesan, and extra pepperoni on top.
  4. Bake: Bake 35–45 minutes, until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling. If top browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
  5. Serve: Rest 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley or basil.

Notes

  • You can use 2 cans of refrigerated pizza dough for a quicker option.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences.
  • Letting the pie rest before slicing helps maintain its structure.
