Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk oil, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, mix until smooth.
- Divide batter into liners and bake for 18–20 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with milk/cream, until fluffy.
- Mix in vanilla extract. Pipe or spread generously on cooled cupcakes.
- Place two chocolate chips on each frosted cupcake for “eyes.”
- Use melted chocolate or black gel to draw stitched mouths, noses, and cracks for a skull-like effect.
- Arrange on a tray for a creepy Halloween centerpiece.
