Description

A delightful and fizzy ice cream treat that combines the flavors of cherry cola with a fun popping candy twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream (cold)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cola flavoring (or ¼ cup reduced cola syrup)
  • 1 cup cherry purée (from fresh or frozen cherries, pitted and blended)
  • A few drops red food coloring (optional, for a vibrant look)
  • ½ cup chopped candied cherries (maraschino or glacé)
  • ½ cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
  • ¼ cup Cherry or Cola-flavored Pop Rocks candy (to add just before serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cola flavoring (or reduced cola syrup).
  2. Stir in the cherry purée until smooth and fully incorporated.
  3. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours until very cold.
  4. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions (20–25 minutes) until thick and creamy.
  5. In the last few minutes of churning, fold in candied cherries and chocolate chunks (if using).
  6. Transfer ice cream to a freezer-safe container.
  7. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm and scoopable.
  8. Just before serving, sprinkle Cherry or Cola Pop Rocks candy over the scoops.
  9. Serve immediately for that fun fizzy, popping effect.

Notes

  • For a more intense cola flavor, use reduced cola syrup.
  • Feel free to customize with other mix-ins like nuts or different candies.
  • Ensure the ice cream maker bowl is fully frozen before churning.
