Ingredients

  • 1 packet (7 g) instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup (240 ml) warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie or boiled)
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (or marinara)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (or dried oregano) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour (or until doubled).
  2. Prepare the Chicken Topping: In a bowl, mix shredded chicken with pizza sauce, oregano, garlic powder, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well until chicken is fully coated.
  3. Shape the Buns: Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal balls. Flatten each slightly and place on a baking tray lined with parchment. Top each bun with a spoonful of chicken mixture. Generously sprinkle mozzarella (and cheddar if using) on top.
  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake buns for 15–18 minutes until golden and cheesy.
  5. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley or oregano. Serve warm with a side of ranch, garlic dip, or fresh salad.
