- 3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (7 g) instant yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup (240 ml) warm water (110°F / 43°C)
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie or boiled)
- 1 cup pizza sauce (or marinara)
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar (optional, for extra flavor)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (or dried oregano) for garnish
Instructions
- Make the Dough: Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour (or until doubled).
- Prepare the Chicken Topping: In a bowl, mix shredded chicken with pizza sauce, oregano, garlic powder, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well until chicken is fully coated.
- Shape the Buns: Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal balls. Flatten each slightly and place on a baking tray lined with parchment. Top each bun with a spoonful of chicken mixture. Generously sprinkle mozzarella (and cheddar if using) on top.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake buns for 15–18 minutes until golden and cheesy.
- Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley or oregano. Serve warm with a side of ranch, garlic dip, or fresh salad.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more chili flakes to the chicken mixture.
- These buns can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
