Description

A delicious and savory dip made with caramelized onions and crispy bacon, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon (chopped)
  • 2 large onions (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (or honey)
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving 1–2 tbsp bacon fat in the pan.
  2. Add sliced onions to the pan and cook low and slow (about 15–20 minutes) until caramelized.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, smoked paprika, and pepper. Simmer until thick and jammy. Add bacon back in and stir.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, mozzarella, Parmesan, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth.
  5. Spread the creamy base in a small baking dish.
  6. Spoon bacon jam generously over the top, swirling slightly into the cheese layer.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until hot, bubbly, and slightly golden at the edges.
  8. Serve warm with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or pita chips.

Notes

  • For a sweeter jam, increase the amount of maple syrup or honey.
  • Can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
