Description

Delicious caramel apple puff pastry squares that are easy to make and perfect for dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, diced)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut puff pastry into squares (about 4–6). Place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Score a small border around each square with a knife (do not cut through).
  4. Brush edges with egg wash. Bake 12–15 minutes, until puffed and golden.
  5. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  6. Add diced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  7. Cook 5–7 minutes, until apples soften and caramelize.
  8. Stir in vanilla and caramel sauce. Remove from heat.
  9. Gently press down the center of each puff pastry square (leaving edges puffed).
  10. Spoon caramel apple mixture into the center.
  11. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce.
  12. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
  13. Serve warm for best flavor.
