Description

A delicious Butter Pecan Cake topped with a creamy praline mixture.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box butter pecan cake mix (15 oz)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and milk. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
  3. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow cake to cool for 10 minutes. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the cake.
  5. Slowly pour the sweetened condensed milk over the warm cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  6. In a saucepan over medium heat melt the butter.
  7. Stir in the brown sugar and heavy cream. Simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and chopped pecans.
  9. Pour the warm praline mixture evenly over the cake.
  10. Let cake cool completely before slicing into 12 even squares.
