This delicious phyllo dough wreath is filled with nuts, honey, and a creamy custard, perfect for any special occasion.

- 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups finely chopped walnuts or pistachios
- 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 4 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with melted butter.
- In a bowl, mix chopped nuts, sugar, and cinnamon; set aside.
- Layer half of the phyllo sheets in the greased dish, brushing each with butter. Add the nut mixture evenly on top.
- Layer remaining phyllo sheets over the nut mixture, again brushing each layer with butter.
- Cut into a circular wreath shape and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare honey syrup by simmering honey, water, and sugar until slightly reduced; set aside.
- For custard, whisk together egg yolks, cornstarch, and vanilla in one bowl; heat milk and sugar in another until warm. Gradually combine both mixtures and cook until thickened.
- Once baked, pour honey syrup over the wreath and let soak for about 20 minutes before pouring custard into the center.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
