Description
These bite-sized apple pie bombs are made with soft dough stuffed with warm spiced apple filling, fried (or baked) until golden, and rolled in cinnamon sugar. They’re perfect for parties, holidays, or a cozy dessert night!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (or 250 g pizza dough / homemade dough)
- Flour for dusting
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
- ½ cup (100 g) sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Melted butter (for brushing or dipping if baked)
Instructions
- In a small pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir and cook for 5–7 minutes until apples soften. Stir in cornstarch slurry to thicken the filling. Remove from heat and cool completely.
- Lightly flour your surface and flatten each biscuit dough piece into a small circle. Place 1 tsp of apple filling in the center of each circle. Fold edges together and pinch to seal tightly. Roll gently into a smooth ball.
- Option 1 — Fry: Heat oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F). Fry 3–4 bombs at a time until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels. Option 2 — Bake: Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Place bombs on a parchment-lined tray and brush with melted butter. Bake for 13–15 minutes, or until golden.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. While still warm, roll each bomb in the mixture until fully coated.
- Serve warm and gooey — perfect with caramel drizzle, whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Notes
- For a healthier option, consider baking instead of frying.
- These can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven.
- Experiment with different spices or add nuts for extra flavor.
